Criminological research is crucial for informing public policies and the practices of law enforcement and criminal justice. However, several issues, such as the lack of replicability1, limited accessibility of results2, and concerns about questionable practices within the field, among others, may undermine confidence in the discipline. While related behavioural sciences, such as psychology, have made strides towards more transparent and reproducible science, criminology lags far behind. In this context, some scholars have highlighted these issues and advocated for a shift towards Open Science (OS) in criminology.
