Crime is not static. It is formed and transformed by numerous actors, such as police officers, judges, social workers, media workers, or the public. They all bring their respective understandings of crime to bear and imbue (depictions of) crime with multiple and differentiated denotations, including age, race, gender, and other categories of difference. In the conference, the speakers will elucidate these processes, drawing on a wide range of theories and empirical data.
