NeuroIntelligence – Institute for Ethical Criminological Research will represent Italy at the 63rd Annual Meeting of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS), scheduled for March 3–7, 2026, in Philadelphia (USA), at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown.
The event, one of the most prominent international gatherings in the fields of criminal justice and criminology, will be dedicated to the theme“Crises Across the Criminal Justice Landscape: The Nexus of Governance and Responsibility,” with a focus on major contemporary crises and institutional responsibilities in managing them.
During the conference, a study titled“The Neuroscience of Fentanyl Addiction: Implications for Transnational Criminal Justice Policy” will be presented. The study proposes an integrated approach combining neuroscience, criminology, and policy analysis to address the growing global crisis surrounding fentanyl.
The study analyzes the effects of chronic substance use on the brain regions involved in decision-making and behavioral control, highlighting the implications for public safety policies, criminal liability, and the transnational governance of this phenomenon.
Participation in the ACJS conference represents a significant recognition of Italian research in the field of neuroscience applied to criminal justice and confirms NeuroIntelligence’s role in the international scientific debate on the new frontiers of contemporary criminology.
