Franco Posa, a physician and criminologist, and an expert in forensic neuroscience.
Born in Varese on September 5, 1968, he earned his medical degree from the University of Insubria in Varese. He developed a passion for criminology and forensic science, completing specialized studies at Italian universities and earning qualifications from European institutions as well.
An expert in forensic neuroscience, he has been conducting research and providing consulting services for years to the Office of the Attorney General and private institutions, focusing on crime scene reconstruction and the study of criminal behavior from an innovative forensic neuroscientific perspective. He has extensive scientific experience in solving cold cases through the application of innovative protocols (psychological autopsy, geographic profiling, and multidisciplinary reconstructions).
He authored a book published in 2019 titled “Forensic Neuroscience”, highlighting how studies in this field have now become an integral part of legal proceedings through rulings based precisely on these disciplines.
Franco Posa is also the Scientific Director of NeuroIntelligence APS, a private research institute specializing in criminology and forensic neuroscience, with offices in Varese and Bellinzona (Switzerland).
As part of its efforts to raise awareness and combat bullying, it has published a scientific paper “Bullying, Cyberbullying, and Forensic Neuroscience”. He is at the forefront of teacher training in schools, participating in training events in schools with teachers and students.
During these sessions, we explore the causes, motivations, and mechanisms that drive and trigger the behaviors of all parties involved, with a particular focus on the complete lack of empathy exhibited by everyone.
Given the sharp rise in attacks on healthcare workers, he has been studying this phenomenon from a criminological perspective for years.
The significant and growing prevalence of such incidents in many parts of Europe, and particularly in Italy, has led to the development of a scientifically validated protocol to address these violent situations.
It carries out awareness-raising, prevention, and training activities in this area by offering intensive educational courses based on effective and easily implementable theoretical and practical principles.
The recent publication of the text “Combating Violence in Healthcare Settings” brings together criminological and forensic aspects, with a particular focus on the scientific implications of violent behavior.
Last but not least, the forensic neuroscientific links between violent behavior and the healthcare context are explained.
The most recent publication (2020) on identifying signs of truthfulness during the initial emergency call in cases of suspected homicide, titled “The Voice of Truth” (Franco Posa, Valeria Rondinelli).
In 2025, he published his first novel, *Anatomy of a Secret*, available as an ebook and in paperback.
In addition, a book dedicated to the new PASIC (Psychological Autopsy Structured on Individual Cases) protocol is scheduled for release in March of that year.
